Cllr D Binns |
|
Cllr N Kay |
Dorcas
Binns has considerable previous experience as a councillor,
having service on the Town Council for a spell between 1999 and 2000
before being elected to the District Council, initially to represent
Minchinhampton between 2000 and 2004, and latterly Nailsworth from
2004 to 2008. Her interests include
membership of the Nailsworth Youth Club Committee and, most
recently, a very active involvement in the staging of the Nailsworth
Games.
She is a long-term resident of the area,
having lived at Longfords for over 21 years. |
|
Norman
Kay. I have now lived with my
wife in this brilliant town for twenty-five years, and love it.
However, I was born and raised in London until I went to college,
where I met my wife.My career has been
with social care, and I managed a team of child care social workers
before my retirement.
At home we keep a small flock of rare
breed Cotswold sheep and I am the Royal British Legion poppy appeal
organiser for Nailsworth. I also worked with the Youth Club to
ensure we have a full-time dedicated youth worker.
My special interests are the young people and
the older population of Nailsworth. I was Deputy Mayor for the last
two years and since May 2007 I serve as the Town’s Mayor.

Cllr J Way |
|
Cllr I D Crawley |
|
Joy
Way - I came to live near Nailsworth in 2002, and am
delighted by the active and varied life I have found here.
A year with the TIC, and 5
years with Nailsworth Festival proved to be a good foundation for
joining the Town Council in 2007.
I am particularly interested
in matters relating to the environment and to sustainability, and
try to bring this perspective to all my work as a councillor.
Earlier in my life, I worked
for many years as a social worker, and I have 2 grown-up children. |
|

Ian
Crawley - My wife and I are very pleased we moved in 2003
from London to Nailsworth.
Our
three grown-up children have come to know and like Nailsworth and
regularly visit.
I
have worked for over 30 years in local government, initially as a
town planner, then managing a wide range of services.
I
aim to use this experience to assist the improvement of Nailsworth
and the social, economic and environmental well-being of residents
and businesses. |
|
Cllr A Wheeler |
|
Cllr S Robinson |
|
Alan
Wheeler – Born in London and has lived
in Nailsworth since 2001 after taking early retirement from BT in
1998. I have worked on various parish councils since 1991 and enjoy
taking part in community affairs and have a keen interest in
planning issues.
I want to
help preserve the working town character of Nailsworth and really
enjoy all the facilities it offers.
My main
interests are sailing, walking and playing table tennis in local
leagues.
|
|
Stephen
Robinson. Steve was born, educated
and lives in Nailsworth. He is married to Liz, has three daughters
and one grand daughter.
Steve has
worked in the Youth Service for forty years, both in a part-time and
full-time capacity.
He
currently works in the family butchery business in Minchinhampton
and in his spare time enjoys playing bowls in Nailsworth. Steve
looks forward to serving the local community as a councillor.

|
Cllr P Carter |
|
Cllr J Nicholson |
Paul
Carter moved to Nailsworth in 1983, he is married to Linda and they
have two grown up sons who were educated at local schools.
Paul
has followed a career in general management and IT within the
logistics industry. He and Linda have both played active roles in
various aspects of Nailsworth life since moving here.
He wants
to contribute to the continued development of Nailsworth as a
prosperous market town. |
|
John
Nicholson has lived in Shortwood for
over 20 years, and has served on the town Council for the past 16.
He was mayor in 1999-2002.
He has,
at some time, chaired nearly all the council’s committees and was
particularly involved with the establishment of the Town Information
Centre, the plans to redevelop the Highwood site and the appointment
of Nailsworth’s first full-time youth worker.
|
|
Cllr J Bratby |
|
Cllr J Byrne |
|
John
Bratby has lived and worked in and
around Nailsworth for over 30 years.
As an
independent member of the council he aims to “do my best to serve
and promote our town, community and businesses”. |
|
John
ByrneMoved
to Nailsworth 7 years ago. Born in Bolton, Lancashire. about 1959.
Conserves and Repairs Old Buildings. Specialises in the use of lime
mortars, plasters, washes and renders. Can be seen bouncing about in
a series 2a Land Rover. Sits on the Recreation & Amenities,
Environment , Newsletter and Finance committees.
Having never previously sat on any committee - let alone a town
council I am flattered to be made welcome and hope to do my bit to
help the town, which I believe, is something rather special.
|
|
Cllr S Thorpe |
|
|
|
Sally
ThorpeI am
married with 2 grown up sons and we are expecting our first
grandchild this autumn. Though I live in Amberley, I see Nailsworth
as my natural base for shopping and socialising and I like the
dynamic feel of the town.
I was on Cirencester
Town Council in the 1980’s particularly focussing on play facilities
for young children and teenagers. I have been a social worker and
have worked in many areas of local government and with community
groups.
I am keen to support community groups and residents in
Nailsworth and work to maintain and improve the quality of life for
all. |
